Meet Me In St. Louis, Pt. 1

Thanks to the wallet-emptying miracle of ebay, I stumbled upon the Madame Alexander Judy Garland "Meet Me in St. Louis" doll. The hair is a little bushy and the face paint seemed a little off as well; I haven't done anything to the hair (yet) but I went ahead and redid the face paint to make it look more like Judy in the actual film.

This frilly confection of a costume that comes with a matching umbrella was worn by Judy in the film’s final scene. The entire Smith family ventures to the Fair for the first time and is awed by the beauty and grandeur of it all.

  1. Just lovely, thank you! I’m trying to find an affordable version of this Madame Alexander Judy Garland (“Meet Me in St. Louis”) doll, but so far I have not found many choices. Just 1 doll for about $200 total, & that’s the price + shopping combined.

The search goes on, and I wonder why the Madame Alexander company stopped making this great doll, because there is a market for her, as many of us love Judy Garland and her talent. Judy’s beautiful big eyes and cute face are so conducive for transferring them to a doll’s likeness, too. I want to get someday to the point of taking an inexpensive brunette doll, and repainting her face to a good likeness of Judy as she looked in A Star is Born (at age 32) and how she appeared in The Clock, in the early 1940’s, when she was in her early 20’s. Both movies brim over with her talent and spirit. Any tips on where to get a decent likeness doll of Judy would be very appreciated! Thanks, folks. Take care!
